NovaGran Blue Plus Antimicrobial Dressings

Description

The NovaGran Blue Plus Dressing is highly absorbent antimicrobial foam with Methylene Blue (up to 0.25 mg/g), Gentian Violet (up to 0.25 mg/g) and Silver Ion (up to 7 mg/g) integrated into the polymer matrix. Proprietary Triple A Technology makes NovaGran Blue Plus Dressings Antimicrobial, Antifungal and Analgesic.

Methylene Blue
• Pulls the protein rich exudate (bacteria and dead tissue) into the dressing
Gentian Violet
• Attack gram(-) and gram(+) bacteria
• Antibacterial and Antifungal
• Analgesic
Silver Ion
• Silver ions (Ag+) are released in the presence of exudate and bind to bacterial cells
• Amount of silver ions released are proportionate with amount of exudate
• Penetrates and kills gram(-) and gram(+) bacteria

Indications for Use:
NovaGran Blue Plus Dressings are indicated for the treatment of partial to full thickness wounds with light to heavy exudate, including:
• Pressure Ulcers • Arterial Ulcers • Graft wounds and donor sites
• 1st & 2nd degree burns • Surgical/post-operative wounds • Lacerations and abrasions
• Venous stasis ulcers • Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) • Skin tears
Contraindications: NovaGran Blue Plus Dressings are not indicated for third-degree burns
Precautions: In the event of any clinical infection, Blue Plus Dressings are not intended to replace systemic therapy or appropriate course of treatment for infection.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Wound Bed Preparation:
Clean the wound with normal saline or other appropriate cleaning agent per facility protocol. Standard precautions should be used to prevent spread of infectious agents when dressing wounds.
Application:
1. Measure and cut NovaGran Blue Plus Dressing to the size of wound (can roll or layer dressing and pack into wound)
2. Apply Blue Plus Dressing directly to wound bed. Direct application is necessary for best results.
3. Cover with non-occlusive secondary dressing of choice. Leave it in place for up to 3 days.
Securing NovaGran Blue Plus Dressing in Place: Use gauze or other non-occlusive adhesives or medical grade tape to secure dressing in place.
Instruction for Tunneling Dressing: Cut the dressing into strips or cut and roll to appropriate size. Leave a “tail” at the end of the dressing to assist with easy removal. Insert into wound tunnel.
Instruction for Ostomy Dressing: Trim the outer diameter of the NovaGran Blue Plus Dressing to fit just inside the adhesive rim of the pouch. Trim the inner diameter of the Blue Plus dressing to fit the stoma.
Instruction for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Device: Cut the NovaGran Blue Plus Wound Dressing to size. Place Blue
Plus Dressing in contact with wound bed. Place NPWT foam on top of the Blue Plus dressing and seal the wound per the NPWT protocol.
Compression Wrapping: Blue Plus can be used under compression wrap or occlusive adhesive with medical supervision or trained care professionals.
Removal Instructions: Leave Blue Plus Dressing on for a maximum of three days or remove if it becomes saturated. If the dressing becomes saturated before the desired dressing change, a second dressing may be placed on top for continued absorption.

If the Blue Plus Dressing is difficult to remove, soak with saline or NovaGran Antimicrobial HOCl Wound Solution. A non-
adherent layer is recommended to prevent sticking or in-growth at the later stages of wound healing.
